Another post about my house mate… (with pictures!)

So… I’ve been talking about my house mate a lot on this blog for the last few months. I’ve used all sorts of adjectives and superlatives to describe how great a guy he is and how much I love him. He’s a 24 years old British-Pakistani, has a law degree, and currently has a great job in Saudi Arabia. He’s very religiously knowledgeable, he’s super-smart, sensible, and on the ball with all sorts of issues. He’s a thinking man and prides himself on his logic and ability to think through a situation but he’s not boring at all. He’s quick to laugh and is fast when it comes to telling jokes. He’s the complete package.

Last week he asked me if I was willing to take some pictures of him because his mum wanted to show some girls for potential rishtas. He’s looking to get married but there’s no one for him to get married to at the moment. This is where you fine Tumblr people come in…

13. Would you break the law to save a loved one?

I had this amazing conversation with my house mate a few days ago (when I was still in Saudi) about a situation similar to this but slightly reversed. His questions were really great and the discussion that arose from it about morals and morality was fascinating. It was conversations like that which make me want to live with him again next year. Saudi isn’t all roses…

I’ve been talking about my impressions of Saudi Arabia for the last few days and have mentioned loads of the positive aspects of being here. I’ll be the first to admit that there are a lot of positives, like the spiritual aspect and the money I’m earning, but there are some negative aspects too. Maybe other people don’t feel them as strongly as I do, or at all, but it’s something that I’m going to have to get used to. I guess I’m already starting that.

Gun control…

I’ve been thinking about this blog for a while. I’ve actually been thinking about the topic of gun control for longer than I’ve been writing this blog. It seems that every few months you hear a horrible story about an American high school student shooting up his classmates in a brutal and horrendous attack. We all know that people in the States are killed every day in gun violence. The sad fact is that gun crime is becoming more regular in the UK.
