Anonymous asked: Your blog is getting monotonous.

Do you know why, Anon? It’s because my life is incredibly dull and there’s nothing exciting happening in it any more. Each day is exactly the same and each moment leads to the next one and that to the one after it.

It’s no way for a man to live.

Also, if you don’t like what you see you don’t have to read my blog. There are plenty of other blogs with far more interesting content.

Feel free to press unfollow!

I feel like I don’t have as much to blog about now that I’ve left Saudi

I know me being in Saudi was a big part of this blog and a lot of you came along on the journey with me.

Now, it’s almost as though I have a lot less to say. I’m just another guy in a small English city.

This blog isn’t anything remarkable or has anything interesting to say any more.

Today was memorable…

I’ve hardly slept in the last 24 hours. Work was deathly boring and I couldn’t come home because I actually had work stuff to do.

My house mate was loving the attention from yesterday’s post about him.

After I got home from work my day certainly picked up. Now I know why tumblr meet-ups are all the rage. I had dinner on the terrace of one of Riyadh’s tallest buildings and watched the sun set over the city. Beautiful. It’s a good job I didn’t get arrested!

Time to go walk/run now. 2 and a half hours away from technology and time to try to make sense of the feelings of today.

Another post about my house mate… (with pictures!)

So… I’ve been talking about my house mate a lot on this blog for the last few months. I’ve used all sorts of adjectives and superlatives to describe how great a guy he is and how much I love him. He’s a 24 years old British-Pakistani, has a law degree, and currently has a great job in Saudi Arabia. He’s very religiously knowledgeable, he’s super-smart, sensible, and on the ball with all sorts of issues. He’s a thinking man and prides himself on his logic and ability to think through a situation but he’s not boring at all. He’s quick to laugh and is fast when it comes to telling jokes. He’s the complete package.

Last week he asked me if I was willing to take some pictures of him because his mum wanted to show some girls for potential rishtas. He’s looking to get married but there’s no one for him to get married to at the moment. This is where you fine Tumblr people come in…

It’s new years eve…

and I’m already in bed and it’s not even 10pm here in Saudi Arabia - my excuse is that I’ve been up since 5:45am for work and will have to wake up at the same time tomorrow.

I queued up a post for later. That’s how exciting my life is right now.

If anyone can top my plans for how pathetic they are… feel free to share them. Any takers?

My dashboard is a strange place…

Most of the day it just stutters along at a gentle (sometimes too gentle) pace and I can check it every once in a while and see cool posts and stuff and it’s either a bit boring or all good.

Other times… it zooms along as if there’s no tomorrow (especially at night here/US time) and I struggle to keep up with how fast it’s moving.

I only follow 50 people! It shouldn’t be like this. (tell me more cool people to follow who DON’T post a million things a day!)

My kingdom for a happy medium!

I’m out of here…

Next stop… Five star hotel in Dubai next to the second biggest mall in the city and in the shadow of one of the biggest buildings in the world.

My life is so boring!

The next chapter starts today…

In early 2010 I realised that I needed to step it up and get my life in order. To that end I decided I’d go abroad and start teaching. I did a English language teaching course in May 2010 and on June 1st I applied for my first jobs. That started a series of events that resulted in me moving to Saudi Arabia in the second week of October of 2010. Well, today is the day where I start doing something about the next step.

Time

Time is a wonderful thing. It speeds up and it slows down but it never behaves the way you want it to. I’m not talking about it from an entropy point of view or the arrow of time or anything related to hardcore physics. I mean our perception of how seconds turn to minutes to hours to days to weeks to months to years and to decades. It’s from a psychological perspective about how we perceive time going by.

My first day at work…

My aversion to work is no secret. I’ve mentioned it a few times but what I should have mentioned is I have an aversion to work that is dull, boring, and uninspiring. I guess that’s true of everyone. The thing is that work that makes me behave like a robot is the least inspiring thing in the world. So, I bet you want to know how my first day at this new job went, right?
