A million dollars isn’t what it used to be. In fact it’s not all that much at all. For that money you can get a very nice house in one of England’s northern cities, a nice car, and have a few pounds left to relax and take it easy for a few years. It wouldn’t be feasible to not supplement that with some kind of work. That is, of course, if you choose to live in a place like England. If you’re willing to live elsewhere it’s a whole different matter…
I don’t particularly love or hate my job. It’s just a job. It would take me a whole number of years to save up a million dollars. If I suddenly came across the money then I would certainly quit my job. A million dollars might not be as much as it used to be in England or the US but it can go a long, long way in other parts of the world. In Saudi you could live very comfortably for the rest of your life without worrying all that much. In Thailand you could live like a king and barely dent the money.
With that mindset I would certainly quit my job.
I think the only time I wouldn’t quit my job if it was something I loved doing. I wouldn’t quit my job if it was the kind of job I wanted to wake up every morning for. I believe there are those jobs out there but I don’t think I’m in the position to take one of them. In sha Allah, I’ll be in that position in a couple of years time. If I had the kind of job I would work for free then having or not having money wouldn’t matter at all. I don’t have that job at the moment.
This questions is much easier than some of the recent ones I’ve come across.
If I won the money I’d throw a huge party and all my Tumblr friends would be invited! I’ll see you there! Who wants to come?
