I read every post. I listen to every song. I click on every link. I watch every video. I read every quote.

Every. Single. Post.

I feel like I owe it to the people I follow. I don’t follow all that many people. When someone follows me I go through about 10 pages of their blog (or try to at least) and if they reblog a whole lot more than write their own thing, I won’t follow them back. It’s not because I’m an elitist or snobby or anything. It’s because when I follow someone, it’s the start of a relationship with them for me.

I talk to most of the people I follow. Some don’t know I exist, some of them are pleasant acquaintances, some are my friends, and on extremely rare occasions I feel like my life has changed because of following someone.

Tumblr is a strange place for me. I don’t think I follow a single person who is as old as I am. A couple are in their late 20s, a bunch in their mid-twenties, a whole lot in their early 20s, and a handful in their teenage years. It’s strange to see the world from the perspective of all these different people.

The most amazing thing is that I’m so hopeful of some of the youth after reading some of the posts by the younger people I follow. Their idealism and optimism, mixed with their clear and obvious talent, fills me with joy. Here are people half my age who think about the world in ways even I haven’t noticed sometime.

When I unfollow someone it’s normally because they haven’t posted anything in a while or it’s because I find myself finding it hard to read their posts - they just don’t interest me as much as they did. It’s a rare occurrence. It’s not something I do frequently. It’s not something I do without giving the person a chance.

There’s so much I could write on this topic.

Anyway, this post has just been a way of saying thank you to the cool people on Tumblr. I don’t know what the future holds for me on this site but I’m going to remember the people I’ve met through here for a long, long, long time to come. Some, for the rest of my life.
